Summer Slow Down?

I think we somehow missed the memo that our schedule was supposed to ease up and we were supposed to slow down as soon as we left school last Thursday!  It has been a jam-packed first week.  Here's re-cap

Thursday: We went straight from picking Sam up from school (early dismissal!) to Annabelle's swim lesson, straight to the splash pad for 2.5 hours and then to pick up some Sonic treats before finally heading home.

Friday: Sam's first morning swim practice, followed by a playdate at church and Sam's first swim meet!  The meet required us to be at the pool from 4:30-8:30.  Hot and crowded.  But he did really well!  And we are lucky to be in the 6 and under group - the older kids were there till about midnight!

Saturday: Aside from the kids spending about 6 hours in our own pool, we also had the "end of season" baseball party in the afternoon.

Sunday: After church and errands, Sam went to a (drop off!) birthday party.  Three of us enjoyed a peaceful, grilled dinner.  Sam had no fun at all with his buddies.

Monday: Swim practice followed directly by a trip to the hospital to visit the new "cousin."  Aunt Betty had her baby and my kids are mildly obsessed.  A playdate with Annabelle's crew at the splash pad and then our special Preview Night Dinner at the the Chick-Fil-A set to open up tomorrow morning about a mile from our house.  Its the talk of our little suburban oasis.  We won our way in through a Facebook contest and enjoyed a "tasting menu" and tour of the facility, and came home with some cups, cows and cookies.

Tuesday: I had to work after swim team, and then a second swim meet!  This time Annabelle only had to endure for about an hour and a half, thanks to some strategic coordination with a neighbor.  Even hotter this time.

Wednesday: A break from swim team.  Our first WOW Wednesday at church, with a visit from the arthropods from HMNS!  Then a special treat for mommy: lunch with a dear friend from community group in years gone by, in town for just a day.  Meeting each others' kids.  Then I took the kids to a playground in our old neighborhood before heading home for naps, legos, crafts and pool.

I'm sure I've missed something, but this is the big stuff.  No, we aren't bored yet!
