Memory Makers

Believe it or not, that is not some cheesy title I came up with for this post.  Its actually the name of the place that Annabelle has been taking her new art class: Memory Makers Enrichment Center.  I found out about it through a friend and it has been a great fit for our girl.  I started out just with December, but we have now signed up through the rest of the school year.

Each class is structured in roughly the same way.  The parents read books with their kids or draws with chalk while everyone arrives, and then Ms. Debbie reads a group story on the carpet.  Next everyone finds a seat at the table and for 2 different crafts, which Ms. Debbie usually uses as an opportunity to develop fine motor skills.  Afterwards Ms. Debbie opens up the "secret room" which is filled with different large motor activities each week.  We usually end with a bit of ribbon dancing to some awesome kid music.

Each month is a different theme.  December was Disney and January is Space and Time Travel.  Annabelle has already brought home lots of fun things!  And because KISD had a teacher in-service day on Art Class Day, Ms. Debbie graciously allowed Sam to join us once.  Believe it or not, he loved it, too!  Preschool Sam would have felt antsy in that environment - I think our boy is growing up!  He did say a few times that he was just excited to see what we are up to while he's at school, which I thought was sweet.
